A fatal five-car wreck in Eastman on Friday was ruled a suicide, says Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith

Smith says 22-year-old Darren Jones, Jr., drove his white Honda head-on into an oncoming semi on the Eastman-Cochran Highway.

Investigators found a suicide note left by Jones, says Smith.

State patrol officers on the scene believed both vehicles were going the speed limit.

However, they believe the driver of the semi-truck didn't have enough time to react because his brakes were never applied.

The semi veered off the road, striking several cars at a nearby gas station.

Jones died on the scene. The driver of the semi was taken to a nearby hospital, treated and released.

Jones was a student at an Aviation College in Eastman, but was from Kennesaw.

Service arrangements are pending, but will be held at Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Fulton County.
