Go "Back to the 80's" and support BCHS One Act.

Enjoy a concert of 70's and 80's music with "Back to the 80's", August 12 at 7 pm and August 13 at 3 pm in the Bleckley County High School auditorium.  The concert will benefit this year's One Act Play competition class. Admission is $5 adults, $3 students and children.

Middle Georgia State names VP of University of Advancement.

Middle Georgia State University announced Tuesday the hiring of Dr. Ken L. Fincher as Vice President of University Advancement and will also serve as Executive Director of the Middle Georgia State Foundation.  To read more, click here.

Bleckley BOE sets millage rate, hires familiar name as parapro.

The Bleckley County Board of Education set a tentative millage rate of 14.334 mills at a called meeting held Thursday night.  According to board minutes, a final rate will be set at the August 15 monthly meeting.  They also acted on several personnel matters including hiring former BCHS football player Derrick Farrow as a paraprofessional for Bleckley Primary.  Per head coach Von Lassiter's Twitter, Farrow will also be an assistant coach for BCHS football.

Bleckley BOE adopts social media policy for district employees.

The Bleckley Board of Education approved policy GAH at Tuesday's monthly meeting.  It governs the usage of social media for all employees.  They also approved an application by the school nutrition department to begin serving meals for participants in the 21st Century Program and a community coach for middle and high school cheerleading.

Bleckley BOE names new middle school assistant principal.

The Bleckley County Board of Education promoted longtime middle school teacher Liz Dykes to BCMS Assistant Principal at a called meeting held Thursday night.  The board had promoted Carla Thrower from Assistant Principal to Principal at a called meeting held last month.  

This will be the second time Dykes and Thrower have directly worked together.  Dykes is a former BCMS Cheerleading head coach, Thrower was her assistant.

Bleckley School District to participate in USDA Child & Adult Food Program.

The Bleckley School District will begin offering meals through the USA-funded Child and Adult Food Program.  The announcement came via a news release issued Thursday.  Program funding will come from the Board of Educationi, School Nutrition, and the 21st Century After School Program.  Meals will be offered at Bleckley County Learning Center (Pre K), location of the 21st Century After School Program, 242 E Dykes St.
