BCHS Royal Singers final concert May 25.

The BCHS Royal Singers will hold their final show of this year May 25 at 7 pm in the high school auditorium.  There will be new songs from the choir, a presentation from OrlandoFest where they won first place in Class A Show Choirs as well as Grand Champion Vocals, as well as special performances from this year's senior members.  Admission is $2.

Third Bleckley virtual school meeting May 25.

A third meeting to gauge interest in a virtual/online school that would be offered by the Bleckley School System and open to home school students, students currently enrolled in schools, as well as out of county students, will be held May 25 at 7 pm in the BCMS Media Center.

Second Bleckley virtual school interest meeting May 11.

A second interest meeting to gauge interest and discuss a virtual/online school that would start this August and be offered by the Bleckley County School System will be held May 11 at 7 pm inside the high school auditorium.

White resigns, new assistant principal hired at called BOE meeting.

Tracy White, who remained a teacher in the Bleckley school system after agreeing to step down as BCHS head football coach, and is currently the high school girls and boys golf coach, is resigning.  The Board of Education accepted his resignation as one of several personnel moves acted on at a called meeting Tuesday night.  According to board minutes, White will resign at the end of the school year.  He had transfered to Bleckley Elementary last month.

Also at Tuesday's meeting, the board hired hired Matthew Godwin for the FY18 (2017-18) school year to be assistant principal/CATE  Director at BCHS.  He'll take over for Matt Gibbs.  Gibbs will move up to be principal of Bleckley County High School next year because of Trey Belflower's new title, DIrector of Operations, for the school system.

Info meeting for Bleckley Summer Meals program May 2.

The Bleckley County Schools Seamless Summer Nutrition Program will begin May 30.  It's purpose is to offer free meals to children during the summer and will serve breakfast, lunch (and in a few locations) an evening meal will be served at county and community locations, as well as schools and churches.  The program will run through July 20, except for the week of July 3-7.

Those wishing to have the Seamless Summer Nutrition Program provide meals for their program, activiity, Vacation Bible School, etc., can call Kelli Green, (478)934-2821, or April Newby, (478)934-9094 for more information.  A release states all meal sites must have advanced USDA approval.

Interest meeting for Bleckley virtual school program held.

An informational/interest meeting about a virtual/online school program was held Thursday night in the Bleckley County High School auditorium.  Superintendent Steve Smith presented info via Power Point as well as answered questions from the audience.  One parent who has a student enrolled in Georgia Cyber Academy and is a proponent of the program was also able to provide insight.
