EPA Director Scott Pruitt visits Bleckley Elementary for Earth Day.

Following a meeting with Georgia forest and forest production members, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Director Scott Pruitt visited Bleckley Elementary for Earth Day. He helped students plant a tree, spoke to them about environmental stewardship, and, along with Wanda Barrs, read "The Tree Farmer" to the assembled students. Barrs and husband Earl, owners of Gully Branch Tree Farm, helped coordinate the visit.

Bake sale will benefit Royal Singers trip to music competition.

The BCHS Royal Singers will hold a bake sale March 30 from 8:30 am-2 pm in the Pre-K parking lot, 242 East Dykes Street. Proceeds will benefit their upcoming trip to the Southern Stars Music Festival competition in May.

New assistant principal hire part of recent personnel moves in Bleckley School district.

The Board of Education hired a new assistant principal for Bleckley Elementary as part of personnel matters acted upon at a called meeting Tuesday night.  The hire was a result of other moves which came via the FY 18-19 Leadership Staffing Plan approved at last month's meeting.

A good day to celebrate Dr. Seuss.

The weather in Cochran Thursday afternoon was rainy and grey, similar to the weather in Dr. Seuss's first book The Cat in the Hat.  That weather made it a good day to be inside, enjoy math and literacy games, and celebrate Dr. Seuss at Bleckley Primary.

Faculty Art Exhibition at Middle Georgia State opening March 5.

The Faculty Art Exhibition, featuring work by Middle Georgia State faculty, will open inside Peacock Gallery March 5. An opening gallery talk and reception will be held at 6 pm that night. The gallery is located on the first floor of Russell Hall on the Cochran campus. The exhibition will be open through March 30. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 am to noon on Fridays.
