Middle Georgia State Cochran campus to remain closed tomorrow.

Middle Georgia State University announced that both the Macon and Warner Robins campuses would be open tomorrow and resume normal operations. The Cochran, Eastman, and Dublin campuses will remain closed due to no electricity. According to a statement, the university is working with utilities to get power restored to all three campuses. They anticipate a return to normal operations by October 15.

Bleckley schools closed tomorrow, Homecoming activities rescheduled.

All Bleckley Schools will be closed tomorrow. According to a Tweet by the district, much of the county is without power with no timetable for its restoration.  Tomorrow's Homecoming football game versus East Laurens has been moved to October 14 at 7 pm. The Homecoming dance scheduled for October 13 has been rescheduled for October 19 from 7:30-11 pm.

Schools closed in Cochran tomorrow, shelter to open for local residents.

All Bleckley County schools as well as Middle Georgia State University will be closed tomorrow due to Hurricane Michael strengthening.   Both announcements came via Twitter.  House of Grace Church, 133 Jac Arts Road, will open tonight as a storm shelter at 6 pm tonight for local residents only.  Call (478)319-2646 for more information.

BCHS One Act to perform "All Shook Up" October 14-16.

Bleckley County High School One Act Play will have community performances of this year's competition selection All Shook Up October 14-16 in the auditorium. Times are 3 pm that Sunday, 7:30 pm on both Monday and Tuesday. Admission is $6 adults, $3 students. BCHS will also be the host for this region one act play competition October 18. Bleckley will take the stage at approximately 4:15 pm. Admission is free. No photography nor videography at region per GHSA rules.

Nothing spooky about October school breakfast and lunch menus.

Though many people's thoughts turn to the spooky in October, there's no witches' brews or bats on the Bleckley schools breakfast and lunch menus.  To find out what will be served, click here.

Special events part of Friday's BCHS home football game versus Dublin.

It will be a busy night at Royal Stadium September 28 when Bleckley hosts Dublin.  Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department football players and cheerleaders will be recognized before the game for Youth Football Night.  It will also be Cancer Awareness Night sponsored by BCHS HOSA.  Activities include face painting and a cake raffle with proceeds to benefit a local family dealing with cancer.  Survivors and family members of those who lost somoene to the disease are invited to line up near the player's entrance tunnel at 7:15 pm to release baloons into the air.

Another good day on the mat for Bleckley cheerleading.

Both the Bleckley middle and high school cheerleaders faced a lot of competition at the West Laurens Raider Rumble Saturday.  There were eight schools in the small school middle school division, 12 in the AA division which finished the day.
