Bleckley PTO seeking donations of refreshments, volunteers, for Father-Daughter Dance.

Bleckley PTO presents "Light up the night: Daddy-Daughter Glow Dance," February 29 from 6-8 pm at BCHS. Tickets are $25 per couple, $10 per additional child. Tickets will be on sale in the Pre-K, Primary, and Elementary school front offices through February 28. A daughter wishing to go but without a dad/male guardian to escort them with is welcomed to attend with a mom/female guardian. Donations of mini cupcakes, bite-sized brownies, boxes of individually wrapped chips are sought. Volunteers are also needed for setup that Friday from 6-9 pm in the high school lunchroom or cleanup following the dance (arrive by 7:45 pm.) BCHS repeats as region literary champs.

BCHS repeats as region literary champs.
 Bleckley County High School won their second consecutive region literary championship Saturday in Cochran. First place events (advancing to state): boys and girls solo, boys quartet, personal and rhetorical essay, dual oral interpretation. Second place events: girls quartet (tied for first initially), argumentative essay, humorous oral interpretation and dramatic oral interpretation. Third place: domestic extemporaneous speaking. State will be March 14 at Veterans High School.

Bleckley Primary, BCES, holding literacy night events February 27.

Both Bleckley Primary and Bleckley Elementary will hold literacy night events February 27.  Bleckley Primary's literacy night will also be a celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday.  It's a drop-in event, 4-6 pm.  Activities include various literacy games, book walk, and book swap (bring a book from home to exchange for another.)  Students will also be able to shop at the book fair.

 

Bleckley Elementary is encouraging students to "solve the mystery" at their literacy night, 5:30-7 pm.  It will also include literacy games and an opportunity to shop at the book fair.  Students who bring a gently used book to donate to the school's summer reading program will be given an extra chance at door prizes that will be given away.

Tickets for this year's Bleckley PTO Father-Daughter dance, "Light Up The Night: Daddy-Daughter Glow Dance, are on sale in the main offices of Bleckley Pre-K, Bleckley Primary, and Bleckley Elementary. Tickets are $25 per couple, $10 for each additional child. This year's dance will be February 29 from 6-8 pm at BCHS. Setup will be February 28 from 6-9 pm. A signup sheet for parents wishing to volunteer will also be in all three school offices.

On Friday mornings at Bleckley Elementary, teachers have the opportunity to get their morning caffeine fix from the "Jitterbug Joe" coffee cart. Manned by BCES special needs students under the watchful eye of teacher Riley Troili and parapro Tisha Bailey, it helps the students gain valuable life skills.  Click here for more.

BCHS hosting region literary competition February 22.

Bleckley County High School will host Region 3-AA Literary competition February 22 at 9 am. All events are free and open to the public. No photography or videography allowed during events.

The weather outside felt more like spring than winter. Still, it didn't deter hundreds from visiting Bleckley Elementary for their annual WinterFest carnival, rescheduled from February 6. Click here to view photos.
