Bleckley School District to participate in USDA Child & Adult Food Program.

The Bleckley School District will begin offering meals through the USA-funded Child and Adult Food Program.  The announcement came via a news release issued Thursday.  Program funding will come from the Board of Educationi, School Nutrition, and the 21st Century After School Program.  Meals will be offered at Bleckley County Learning Center (Pre K), location of the 21st Century After School Program, 242 E Dykes St.

BCHS Beta Club members do well at nationals.

BCHS Beta Club members do well at nationals.

Bleckley County High School Beta Club members who won state competition attended the National Beta Club Convention in Orlando, Florida this past weekend.  Tucker Felkins placed third, Evan Thomas fourth, in Agriculture Competition.  The Beta Club Show Choir finished fifth.  They were directed by BCHS Show Choir Director Kelli Greer.

Beta Club advisors are Dr. Cindy Felkins and Jill Brack.

Bleckley BOE promotes BCMS Assistant Principal to Principal.

As part of what was a very short called meeting last night, the Bleckley County Board of Education promoted longtime BCMS Assistant Principal Carla Thrower to Principal.  Thrower will replace Michelle Dyal, who will be transferring to Bleckley Elementary after current principal Janet Moe resigns June 30.

Called Bleckley BOE meeting June 27.

Bleckley School District announced via Twitter there would be a called Board of Education this Tuesday, June 27 at 7 pm at the board office.  According to the Tweet, the purpose is to act on personnel and vendor contracts.

Bleckley BOE adopts policy requiring background checks, accepts principal's resignation.

At Tuesday's monthly meeting, the Bleckley Board of Education approved a policy that will require new employees as well as parents acting as chaperones to get background checks.  They also accepted the resgination of Blckley Elementary principal Janet Moe.
