Fourth master's degree program approved for Middle Georgia State.

Middle Georgia State University announced Thursday aproval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to offer a Master of Arts in Teaching.  It will be the fourth master's degree offered by MGA.

BCHS senior selected for Washington Youth Tour.

Bleckley County High School announced Tuesday that JoAnna Winborn was selected by Ocmulgee EMC to be the district representative for this summer's Washington Youth Tour that will take place June 8-15.  To read more click here.

New job for BCHS Principal, former coach returning.

There will be a new principal at Bleckley County High School for the 2017-18 school year.  Current principal Dr. Trey Belflower was promoted to Director of Operations and Federal Programs for the school system at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.  Current assistant principal/CTAE Director Matt Gibbs will move to principal.

Also Tuesday, the board hired Stacy Nobles.  Nobles, who's been the West Laurens High School head football coach the past six seasons, was an assistant on the staff of Sam Barrs along with new BCHS head football coach Von Lassiter.  Though the board did not do the FY 18 Athletic Staffing Plan, Nobles is expected to be part of the coaching staff.

Few openings remain for 2017-18 Bleckley Pre K.

Bleckley Pre K announced Monday a few spots remained for the 2017-18 school year.  Those who've not done so should act now because once the 154 spots are filled, anyone else registering will be placed on a waiting list.

You are asked to bring the following documents when registering your child:  birth certificate; Social Security card; immunization record (Form 3231); eye, ear, dental and nutrition record (Form 3300); proof of residence (power or utility bill, property tax receipt, or car tag receipt); and proof of Medicaid, Food Stamps, SSI, TANF, CAPS (if applicable).

Registration can be done from 8 am-3 pm Monday-Friday at Bleckley Pre K, 242 E. Dykes St.

Bleckley 21st Century Summer Camp registration ongoing.

Bleckley 21st CCLC is registering students for their summer camp that will be held May 30-June 23.  It's for students who've completed Kindergarten through eighth grade.  The camp offers a variety of academic activities in Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and STEM to promote retention of past school year knowledge as well as new skills for the coming school year.

Bleckley Primary becomes "Seussville."

Thursday was the birthday of Dr. Seuss.  Bleckley Primary held a celebration to honor the beloved children's author as well as promote literacy.  Children enjoyed a variety of reading and word-based games.
