Middle Georgia State to offer Master of Science in Management.

Starting summer semester 2017, Middle Georgia State University will begin offering a Master of Science in Management degree. According to a release, the university received approval to offer the degree by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges on February 23. It will be the third Master's Degree offered. MGA currently has Masters of Information Technology and Masters of Nursing Degrees. Location of April Bleckley BOE meeting changed.

At last week's monthly meeting, the Bleckley Board of Education voted to move their April 11th meeting to the BCMS Media Center.  The move is to allow a facilities walkthrough for board members as well as them get a demonstration of the Telehealth System.  Meeting start time remains 7 pm.

"The face of Bleckley County High School" retiring.

At the called board meeting naming Von Lassiter BCHS head football coach and athletic director, Superintendent Steve Smith said current AD Benjy Rogers had been "the face of Bleckley County High School" for many years. That face is retiring.  Rogers resignation "with regret" due to retirement was accepted by the Board of Education at their monthly meeting held Tuesday night.

Bleckley Pre K registration March 9.

Registration for 2017-18 Bleckley Pre K will be March 9 from 9 am-6 pm in the Pre K Lunchroom, 242 E Dykes St.   Please park in front of the gym  and enter through the double doors to the left of the main entrance.  Funded to serve 154 students, enrollment priority will be placed on local students with completed registration packets.  Out of county students with completed packets will be placed on a waiting list and contacted in early summer with any available openings.

A release states for a packet to be completed, all registration forms must be completed by the parent/guardian (guardian must provide legal documentation of guardianship) and all of the following documentation must be on file.  The following student documentation is requested at registration.

Success Academy students get Valentine's Day treat.

Bleckley County Success Academy students got a special treat for Valentine's Day.  Individual brownies given by Pilot Club of Cochran.

BCMS girls win MGMSAA title.

BCMS girls win MGMSAA title.

The Lady Barons basketball team won the MGMSAA title Saturday afternoon, defeating East Laurens 48-43.  It's the second title in four seasons for Bleckley and also avenges a finals loss to the Lady Falcons last season.  Shalan Nelson scored 23 points for BC.  They finished this season with a 16-1 record.
