BCHS hosting 3-AA One Act Play competition Thursday.

Bleckley County High School will host Region 3-AA One Act Play competition Thursday.  Shows start at 10 am with Bleckley's performance of The Music Man, Jr. set to go on at approximately 2 pm.  Admission is free and all shows are open to the public.  Note: per GHSA rules, photography and videography are not permitted during any performance.

Bleckley County Middle School made their return to the blue mats Saturday at the Battle in the Boro hosted by Statesboro High School.  Though BC numbers wise is a smaller school, they were placed in the large school division because they had 16 on the mat competing.

Despite having to go against larger schools such as Richmond Hill and Ware County, the squad came home with their second top finish of the season.  BCMS has their final tuneup before region October 29 in Swainsboro.

Bleckley County High School celebrated Homecoming Friday night.  Hanna Dykes was crowned 2016 Queen.  You can view the entire court by clicking here.

BCHS One Act to perform The Music Man.

Bleckley County High School One Act Play will perform this year's competition piece The Music Man October 20 and 24 at 7:30 pm and October 23 at 2 pm in the high school auditorium.  Performances will be dedicated to the memory of longtime band director Louis Foster.  Admission is $6 for adults, $3 students/children 12 and under.

MGMSAA softbal wrapped up Saturday at the Eastman-Dodge County Rec. Department.  Bleckley County Middle School advanced to the region title game by defeating West Laurens 4-3 in eight innings.  Though they lost to top seed Dodge County 8-0 in the title game, BC finshed region runner up.  It's the best finish for middle school softball since finishing region runner up in 2006. 

Middle Georgia State holding film screening as part of Disability Awareness Month.

To commemorate Disability Awareness Month, Middle Georgia State University's School of Education is hosting "The Ability Exhibit," a series of events to promote inclusion. As part of that series, a screening of the HBO documentary "I Can't Do This But I Can Do That" followed by discussion will be held October 2 from 9:30-10:30 am. The screening will take place in Room 302 of Walker Hall on the Cochran campus.

Governor Nathan Deal was the guest speaker at a REACH Georgia Scholar signing ceremony held Tuesday morning inside the Bleckley Middle School Gym.  REACH is  program started by Deal to provide lower income students with academic potential greater access to colleges and universities.
