Rec. Board facing financial crisis.

At Monday night's Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department board meeting, it was learned that if money is brought in soon, they would be unable to pay bills and make payroll. How to get money was a key part of the discussion.  Click here for more.

While there was talk this week that members of city council sought to prevent the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department from holding baseball games this weekend, they ultimately had no authority to do so.  Read more by clicking here.

Cochran Speedway to hold races without fans this weekend.

Cochran Motor Speedway will be holding races May 23 and 24. A post on their website states spectators will not be allowed, only drivers and a maximum of 10 crew members in attendance. Racers will also be asked to stay in their vehicles until asked to exit to the pit gate window. Fans can watch both days races online at speed51.com

There will be baseball: Rec. Board votes to have season.

Though school sports were cancelled by the GHSA, the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department board voted to open the gates for practice and hold a season starting later this month.  Click here for more.

Opening Day for basketball at rec. department January 4.

Opening Day for basketball that will take place in the recently remodeled Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department gym will be January 4. Games start at 9 am. Admission is $2 per person. No heels nor boots will be allowed on the gym floor.

Rain ends day early for local travel team.

Local-based 10 u softball team was in Cordele Saturday for the USSSA Fall State Championships.,  They were about to begin bracket play but rain forced cancellation of the tournament.
