It was a very good year for local high school and middle school sports.

Winter soccer registration at Cochran rec. department ongoing.

Registration for winter soccer at the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department is happening now through January 12.  Open to children ages 4-12, cost is $55 per child.  Register online by clicking here.

Local sports this week in Cochran.

With school starting back, sports are resuming at both Bleckley County Middle School and BCHS.  Tuesday, BCMS soccer teams host JR Trippe.  Wednesday will be eighth grade recognition when they host Dodge County.  Both games start at 3:30 pm.

December 1, BCHS basketball returns to the court, hosting West Laurens.  Varsity games start at 6 pm.  Both the girls and boys are 1-0 on the young season.

Racers get ready for finale at Cochran Speedway.

Engines roared and dirt flew as racers got practice in for Cochran Speedway's annual year-end event the Gobbler 100 Thursday night.  Qualifying races will be Friday, with the finals November 25.  For more info, visit their website.

BCMS wins third straight region cheer title.

BCMS wins third straight region cheer title.

It was a history-making night for Bleckley County Middle School at Monday's MGMSAA Region Cheerleading Championship.  For the first time in school history, BCMS won three straight region cheerleading titles.

Local travel team Crush works out with Middle Georgia State softball.

Local travel team Crush works out with Middle Georgia State softball.

Crush 04 recently changed their name to Middle GA Crush 04 to help differentiate themselves from numerous travel softbal teams with the name "Crush."  This week, players got some valuable experience, working out for three nights with the Middle Georgia State Knights softball team.  "It was a great experience for our girls," said head coach Kevin Wimberly.  The team will be in action Saturday at the USSSA Cordele Slam.
