Bleckley All Star teams in action this weekend.

Fans looking to check out Bleckley all star softball or baseball teams will have an opportunity this weekend as four of them will be in action.  Friday night, the 8, 10, and 12u softball teams begin play at the Telfiar Invitational in McRae.  Saturday, 8u coach pitch baseball will play in a tournament at Perry Junior League.  The Cochran-Bleckley Rec. Department plays GRPA softball and Dixie Youth baseball, thus the different tournaments.

Parents in Bleckley County with children who play boys basketball, softball, football, or soccer will have a place for their child to go for a week during the summer as different groups are hosting summer camps for all of them.  To read more, click here.

Second annual Future Royals Football Camp June 5-7.

The second annual Future Royals Football Camp sponsored by the Cochran-Bleckley Rec. Department and BCHS football will be June 5-7 from 9 am-noon. Cost is $35 and is open to children ages 7-14. Campers will receive high level instruction based upon BCHS football teachings and philosophies from the Bleckley coaching staff. Campers will receive T-Shirts. Last day to register is June 1. Saturday's sixth annual Spring Buddy Ball at the Cochran-Bleckley Rec. Department wasn't as well attended as some.  Approximately 40 special needs children participated.  But Danette Rogers made the point that the important thing was the kids having fun.  Which they appeared to do based upon the cheers heard from them, as well as parents and others watching.   The 16th annual Fall Buddy Ball will be October 6.

The ninth annual Spring Buddy Ball game will be May 5 from 9:45 am-noon at the Cochran-Bleckley Recreation Department.  Buddy Ball is baseball for special needs children who might not normally get to participate in team sports.  These games are for special needs children ages 3-18 from Bleckley, Dodge, and Pulaski counties.  Be there by 9:45 am, games start at 10.  Lunch provided.  Call Danette Rogers, (478)934-2280, or Kathy Simmons, (478)374-6489, for more information.

Sunny skies and springlike temperatures made it a good day to hit the links.  That's what 26 teams did at the 28th annual Royal Golf Tournament held at Uchee Trail Country Club in Cocrhran did Saturday.  Proceeds from the tournament will go toward team expenses for the coming season.
