Local softball player named MVP at tournament.

Local softball player named MVP at tournament.

Though she plays with another team, Mallory Sears has been helping out with The B-Team, a new travel softball team designed to help local players get better and prepare for the next level of school ball.  Saturday, she picked up with them in their debut at Southern Pines.  Sears was voted by the umpires as tournament MVP.

Update on BCMS sports.

Regular season play for BCMS basketball wrapped up February 7 with a home sweep of Dublin.  The MGMSAA region tournament will be February 13 through 16 hosted by J.R. Trippe Middle School in Vidalia.  The boys are top seed and open play February 14 at 4 pm against #8 Jeff Davis.  The girls are third seed and take on sixth seed Dodge County February 13 at 5:15 pm.  Saturday's championship games will be played at Vidalia High School.


BCMS baseball has a scrimmage game Feruary 11 at home against Toombs County 4 pm.  Head coach is former BCHS and Middle Georgia State baseball player Dusty Jones.

Cochran Rec. Department switches softball sanctioning to Dixie.

The Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department announced via a Facebook post sanctioning for the 2019 softball season would be through Dixie Softball, after many years as a member of the GRPA.  To read more, click here.

MGA's Moe recognized for 300 wins.

MGA's Moe recognized for 300 wins.

Middle Georgia State men's head basketball coach Scott Moe won his 300th career game in November, a double overtime victory at College of Coastal Georgia.  Thursday night, he was presented with a plaque honoring hm for that achievement during the first media time out of the Knights home game versus University of Mobile.

Middle Georgia State men's head basketball coach Scott Moe will be recognized for winning his 300th career game Thursday when the Knights host Univeristy of Mobile at 7:30 pm.  Moe won his 300th game in November at College of Coastal Georgia in double overtime.  There will also be a MGA women's game against University of Mobile that day at 5:30.

Winter soccer registration at Cochran Rec. Department ongoing.

Winter soccer registration at the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department is happening now through January 18. Cost is $55 per child for ages 4-12. Register online by going to https://cbrdrecreation.sportngin.com/register/form/237970473

Former BCMS basketball player off to good start as head coach.

Former Bleckley middle and high school basketball player Derrick Farrow is head coach of the BCMS boys team, named to the position last spring. The Barons are off to a 2-1 start, including yesterday's 48-21 home win versus Swainsboro. BCMS has their last game before Christmas December 13 at East Laurens.
