Former MGC Baseball Head Coach Craig Young inducted into NJCAA Hall of Fame.

Craig Young, who accumulated a 761-380 record in 22 years of coaching at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College as well as Middle Georgia College (now Middle Georgia State University) was inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Friday night.  The ceremony took place in Grand Junction, Colorado, in conjunction with the NJCAA World Series.

Cochran Rec. Department holding registration for football camp.

Registration is ongiong for a football camp sponsored by the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department and BCHS football.  The camp will take place June 6-8 at Royal Stadium, 242 E Dykes St, from 9 am-noon.  It's for children ages 7-14, cost $35.  Cost includes T-shirt.

Local travel team wins 14-u debut.

Local travel team wins 14-u debut.

Crush 04, a 12-u softball team, played 14-u at CAMSPORTS-USA's Macon Showdown played Saturday at the Highway 49 Complex.  The team went undefeated on the day, winning first place.

Good turnout for Spring Buddy Ball.

The eighth annual Spring Buddy Ball game was held in a new location, fields at Middle Georgia State University in Cochran.  Buddies came from the Knights athletic department.  But it didn't seem to matter to about 80 special needs children who got their names announced just like baseball players did, and ran the bases, some with the help of their buddies.  After the medal presentation and group pictures, they enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs.

Fall Buddy Ball will be October 7 and returns to the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department.

Travel team brings home "bling" from tournament.

Crush 04 (BC Crush) finished second at USFA's "Bring on the Bling" tournament played Saturday at the Trembling Earth Sports Complex in Waycross.  The team got rings and also earned points needed for their trip to this summer's USFA World Series in Panama City, Florida.

Cochran Rec. Department names Volunteer of the Year.

Cochran Rec. Department names Volunteer of the Year.

The Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department named Brandon Barrs as their 2017 Volunteer of the Year at ceremonies for baseball and softball opening day Saturday.  Barrs was chosen from names submitted by the community.  He was the head coach of last year's 8-u softball team that finished state runner up.  It was the best finish for that division in rec. department history.

Opening day for spring baseball, softball, and T-Ball at the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department will be March 18.  Ceremonies begin at 11 am with games starting at noon.  Admission $2 per person.
