BCHS Baseball Loses Fourth Straight Game

Bleckley went into Monday's game at Northside with two starters (catcher Caleb Bryand and third baseman Jordan Perdue) out of the lineup with injuries.

The Royals were able to keep it close for four innings.  They trailed just 5-2 going into the fifth.  However, a first and third, one out scoring opportunity ended with a double play.  In the home half, aided by five walks, Northside scored nine times.  A two-run home run to begin the frame and a game-clinching grand slam to end as BCHS lost 14-2.  Caleb Slaughter was 1 for 2 with a double.

BC is currently third in 3B-AA with three games left, all against sub-region opponents.  If they win all three and Dublin loses to Dodge County, the Royals will be second.

Bleckley hosts Dublin Tuesday.  JV play at 4 p.m. with varsity to follow.

In Tuesday's loss at Dodge County, the Bleckley offense struggled with runners in scoring position.  Those struggles continued Thursday at home versus Northside.  A two on, two out opportunity in the first produced no runs.

The first of two double plays hit into by Bleckley erased a two on, one out, scoring chance in the second.  Northside pushed a pair across in the fourth.  BC again could not capitalize on a two on, one out situation in the bottom of the fifth.

The Eagles scored four more times over the final two innings as BCHS lost 6-0.

Eight runners were left on base.  Dusty Jones was 2 for 4.  Caleb Bryant was 1 for 2 with a double.  Friday's home game versus Wilkinson County has been moved to 5 p.m.

Bleckley Rallies Past East Laurens for Win

Since 2005, the Royals baseball team had never lost to East Laurens at home.  Friday night, that streak was in danger.  The Falcons led 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh and had held Bleckley's offense to just one hit.  It was in the bottom of the seventh when BCHS began its comeback.  Kyle Brown led off with a double.  Cody Jones singled with one out.  Kace Kirkpatrick got a two-out single to score Brown and pinch-runner Justin Chambers to tie the game at 3.

In the bottom of the eighth, a hit by Dusty Jones spun past the East Laurens right fielder and toward the corner.  Jones came around to score on an inside the park home run to give Bleckley a 4-3 win.  Jones finished 2 for 4.  Kirkpatrick went eight inning, scattering eight hits.  He struck out five with no walks.
