BCHS Unable to Complete Rally Versus Bluffton, South Carolina

BCHS came into Friday's home game versus Bluffton, South Carolina off their second win of the season, a 7-2 triumph at Fitzgerald.  They were down 4-0 after a half inning versus the Bobcats and trailed by as many as five runs twice.  The Royals used a four-run bottom of the sixth to cut a 10-5 deficit to one but would lose 10-9.  Dusty Jones was 3 for 4.  Kyle Brown was 1 for 2 with a double.  Jordan Perdue was 1 for 2.

Bleckley begins sub-region play at home Tuesday versus Dublin.  Game time is 5:55 pm.

Semi-pro football team to hold tryouts, seeing sponsors.

The Middle Georgia Pitbulls Semi-Pro Football Team will have spring practice/tryouts begining March 21 at 5 pm at the Cochran Jaycees Fairgrounds.  Those wishing to try out for the 2011 team should attend.  The Pitbulls are also seeking business sponsors for the season.  For more information on being a sponsor, call 478-231-3317.

BCHS soccer teams sweep East Laurens.

Ashley Burton had a pair of second-half goals as the Lady Royals won versus East Laurens at home Tuesday 3-1.  Hayley Nobles also scored.  Blake Lucas had a hat trick, Dean Murphy scored twice, and Jacob Waters scored as the Royals completed the sweep 6-2.  Both teams improve to 3-1 in Region 3-AA.

Bleckley plays at Southeast Bulloch Friday.  Game times are 5 and 7 pm.

After Kyle Brown's single tied the game in the bottom of the first, Fitzgerald scored seven in the top of the second. 

Down 10-1 in the bottom of the fourth, the Royals loaded the bases with one out but could only score one on a walk. 

BCHS went on to lose to the Purple Hurricanes 13-2.  Dusty Jones was 1 for 2.

Bleckley's next game will be in Fitzgerald March 8 at 6 p.m.

Bleckley Avenges Opening Loss to Hawkinsville

Bleckley led 3-0 going into the fifth of their home opener versus Hawkinsville Monday.  A three-run home run tied the game.  The Royals answered with six in their half of the inning as they avenged last Monday's loss 9-4.  Bryant Trice was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Frankie Mullis was 2 for 4.  Winning pitcher Kace Kirkpatrick struck out eight and was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.  Cody Jones had a solo home run.

Eighth Annual Biking Bleckley Held

Sunny skies and pleasant temperatures greeted the riders of Saturday's eighth annual Biking Bleckley.  The annual ride, sponsored by the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce, attracted 162 participants. 

Some of the participants were from as far away as California and New York. 

Over 50 percent of the riders did the full metric 100 which took them through Bleckley and surrounding counties.

Down 14 points in the third quarter of Saturday's AA state playoff at third-ranked Thomasville and with Brentine Taylor on the bench with three fouls, Bleckley used an 8-2 run to get within eight. 

Thomasville though pushed its lead to 16 by the fourth quarter.  Though the deficit grew to 21, the Royals tried to rally with an 11-3 run.  It would not be enough as BCHS saw its season end with a 57-45 loss.

Taylor and Vidal Nelson both scored 10 points.  Ken Hughes had 12.  BC finishes its season 18-9.
