Bleckley Rallies Past East Laurens for Win

Since 2005, the Royals baseball team had never lost to East Laurens at home.  Friday night, that streak was in danger.  The Falcons led 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh and had held Bleckley's offense to just one hit.  It was in the bottom of the seventh when BCHS began its comeback.  Kyle Brown led off with a double.  Cody Jones singled with one out.  Kace Kirkpatrick got a two-out single to score Brown and pinch-runner Justin Chambers to tie the game at 3.

In the bottom of the eighth, a hit by Dusty Jones spun past the East Laurens right fielder and toward the corner.  Jones came around to score on an inside the park home run to give Bleckley a 4-3 win.  Jones finished 2 for 4.  Kirkpatrick went eight inning, scattering eight hits.  He struck out five with no walks.

BCHS Football Assistant Coach Resigns to Take Head Coaching Position

Stacy Nobles, the strength and conditioning coach as well as the secondary and running backs coach for BCHS, has left to become the head football coach at West Laurens High School. 

His resignation was approved by the board of education at their March 16 meeting. 

Nobles was a member of the Bleckley coaching staff for three years. 

He is a Laurens County native and former assistant coach with the Raiders.

Registration for Georgia GO Fish Bobberthon Fishing Tournament Begins Today

Ready, set…Go Fish!

Register today for the GO Fish Georgia Bobberthon fishing tournament and get ready to GO Fish for fun and prizes beginning April 16.

Beginning April 16 through June 11, 2011, the Dodge County Public Fishing Area will be stocked with up to 200 bream in anticipation of a new regional fishing tournament, called the Bobberthon. Bream will be tagged in the Dodge County PFA, Flat Creek PFA, Hugh Gillis PFA and Ocmulgee PFA.  Anglers can register at community vendors in order to participate in the tournament.  If an angler catches a tagged fish, they will return the tag to the vendor in which they registered.   All anglers that catch a tagged fish are guaranteed a prize and will be registered for the Grand Tournament.

Bleckley Unable to Hold Early Lead in Loss to Irish

Tuesday, the BCHS baseball team looked to strech its winning streak to four games versus Dublin.  Bryant Trice had a two-run home run in the first inning. 

Ben Harris had a two-run shot in the second.  Dublin however tied the score in the home half of the inning.  The Royals last lead came at 5-4 going into the bottom of the third. 

DHS scored three times to take the lead and added two more in the bottom of the sixth.  BC left five runners on base in the final three innings as their streak ended 9-5.

Frankie Mullis was 2 for 4.  Caleb Bryant was 1 for 2.  Bleckley plays at Northside Thursday.  Game time is 5:45 p.m.

Luau for Life at MGC Pool

The Bleckley Elementary and Middle Georgia Collge Relay for Life teams present a "Luau for Life" April 9 at 7 pm. 

The Luau will be held at the MGC pool.  It's dinner and a show with a menu of all you can eat roast pig, salad, green beans, rice, and desert.  Cost is minium $10 donation for adults, $5 for kids $10 and under.
