Local pilots and visiting pilots coming in and out of the Eastman Heart of Georgia Regional airport have a familiar face they see on a day to day basis., and that face belongs to Jeff Fordham, airport manager.

Besides his normal day-to day duties, which include ensuring the proper operation of the airport, Fordham has a personal mission – to make everyone welcome and to positively promote the airport.   This writer was  at the airport today when a U.S. Marine Reserve Squadron, flying two Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters, came in to refuel and take a break. The Marines were returning  to Norfolk, Va from south Florida where they had been conducting training with Air Force Special Operations Forces. According to Fordham, and the visitors, the military units have begun to utilize the Eastman Airport for several reasons. Go to Tri-County Monitor for the complete story by Jimmy Joines
