I-16 Ramp Closed for Construction Work

I-16 eastbound ramp exit 24 is closed for construction work from Monday, January 23 to Wednesday, January 25, a Georgia Department of Transportation news release says.

Here's the schedule:

  • Monday, January 23: I-16 eastbound entrance ramp from Exit 24, beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 24: 1-16 eastbound entrance-ramp from Exit 24, beginning at midnight continuously until midnight, Wednesday, January 25

 

The contractor is performing concrete pavement rehabilitation on I-16 on all lanes in each direction beginning at SR 96 (Exit 24) in Twiggs County, continuing through Bleckley County to a point east of SR 278 in Laurens County.

Exit 24 and 32 ramps will be closed on I-16 westbound  and eastbound starting at various times on Friday, January 13 at 7 a.m. That's according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.

Here is the schedule from Georgia Department of Transportation:

 

·         Friday, January 13: I-16 westbound off-ramp at Exit 24, beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

·         Tuesday, January 17: 1-16 westbound off-ramp at Exit 24, beginning at midnight continuously until midnight, Wednesday, January 18

·         Tuesday, January 17: I-16 eastbound on-ramp at Exit 24, beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

State: Exit 24 Off I-16 E To Close For Paving

The Georgia Department of Transportation says it will temporarily close Exit 24 off I-16 eastbound for paving work.

The scheduled closures are:

Tuesday, Dec. 13: 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

12:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 to 12:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.

Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes.

It felt like Christmas Friday evening as the annual lighted Christmas parade made its way down Second Street.  The event (sponsored by the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce) had a variety of paricipants including local churches, pagent queens, and of course, Santa.   See more photos from the evening. 

10th Annual Turkey Trot

10th Annual Turkey Trot

COCHRAN, Ga.-- Work off the turkey before you even eat it! The 10th Annual Turkey Trot takes place Thanksgiving morning.

It's a 4.5 mile fun run, bike or walk!

Registration starts at 8:45 a.m. and the race begins at 9:10 a.m.

Registration is free!

Bike riders, walkers and runners are welcome to participate in the 4.5 mile race.

All the fun happens at 965 Frank Cook Rd. in Cochran and is hosted by Dee and Richard Davis.
