The Cochran Farmers' Market had a great day Saturday, June2, with a 43% increase of visitors, shoppers than the last week's market. The Cochran Farmers' Market moved locations from Third Street to the Cochran-Bleckley Courthouse lawn. Becky Holland, interim director of the Cochran Better Hometown who sponsors the Farmers' Market, said, "People were telling me, it is like a festival now, being out front and under the trees." There were a number of arts and crafts available as well as lots of fresh produce and baked goods. "We hope to have the whole lawn and the back of the courthouse (parking lot) with vendors every Saturday ... but you have to start somewhere, so we were all pleased!" Holland won't be the director after July 6, but she said, "I encourage people to get involved with the Cochran Farmers' Market, come down on a Saturday, be a vendor, and just enjoy our hometown!"
Vendors can call Cochran Better Hometown volunteer market manager, Russell Davidson, at 278-8339 to register.
