Dazzlers bake sale May 8.

The Royal Kingsmen Dazzlers will hold a bake sale May 8 from 8 am to noon in the old Fred's parking lot located across from the future new primary school. Proceeds will go toward expenses for the upcoming season.

Called BOE meeting May 4.

There will be a called meeting of the Bleckley County Board of Education May 4 at 6 pm in the board meeting room, 242 East Dykes Street. A tweet by the district state's the meeting's purpose is to vote on the GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) on the remaining athletic renovations and upgrades, approve any personnel recommendations, and consider any other business to come before the board. The tweet also stated the May 18 regular meeting would be held in the high school auditorium.

Player of the Year part of nine all region selections for Royals baseball.

Brody Little was voted 3-AA Player of the Year by region baseball coaches Monday. Six more players were first team selections. JR Fordham, Willie Harris, Eli Mullis, Matthew Bland, and Connor Senters. Caleb Senters was a second team selection. Matt Huff made honorable mention. BCHS opens the playoffs at home Thursday versus Toombs County at 4 pm.

BCHS alum featured in MGA "Finding Greatness" student profile.

Tyler Sapp, a 2018 graduate of Bleckley County High School and a senior in the Middle Georgia State University education program (as well as teacher at Bleckley Elementary through the Interns as Teachers program), was profiled for Middle Georgia State University's "Finding Greatness" student spotlight section. Upcoming BCHS home playoff games.

Monday, BCHS girls tennis will try to reach the GHSA semifinals when they take on Bremen at 4 pm.  Tuesday, boys tennis will seek a semifinal berth against Callaway at 3 pm.  Thursday, BCHS baseball will open the playoffs at home versus Toombs County at 4 pm.

Baseball team drops regular season finale.

BCHS had 5-1 lead going to the fifth versus Fitzgerald in their regular season home finale Thursday night. But the Hurricanes scored four in the fifth, another in the sixth, to go up 6-5. The Royals stranded runners at third in the home halves of the fifth and sixth and were retired in order in the seventh, losing 6-5. Ethan Hulsey and Caleb Senters went 1 for 2. BC had just five hits. The Royals will open the playoffs next week, details are TBD.

Girls soccer makes history.

Aniston Dowdy had two goals, including what proved to be the game winner at 21:03 of the second half, and Jordyn Krieg scored as the Lady Royals defeated Jeff Davis 3-2 Thursday night.  It was the first playoff win in program history for girls soccer.  BCHS awaits the winner of Fitzgerald and Westside-Augusta.
